ALL THE BLOGS THAT I MISSED (Ghilberti's door, syllogism, affermative action)

HEY EVERYBODY

Okay, first up The Gates of Paradise!
The doors to the Baptistry of the Florence Cathedral depict numerous scenes from the bible!  Made in 1425-1427 by Lorenzo Ghilberti, the doors are said to have started the Renaissance.  The panels, of which there are 10, are in low relief and depict different scenes from the bible.  Ghilbert one the honor of crafting the doors after winning a contest.  Whiether he actually won, or he was tied is still disputed.  He did not originally dub his creation the gates of paradise, it was Michelangelo.

Syllogisms!
What is it you ask? Well, i can brilliantly answer that for you!
A syllogism is a set of 3 clauses that relate and prove the third clause through the first 2.
Kittens are cute.
Silent Assassin is a kitten
Silent Assassin is cute.
The third clause, Silent Assassin is cute is proven because kittens are cute and Silent Assassin is a kitten.

Now there are 2 different kinds os syllogisms.  Positive syllogisms, modus ponens, assert a statement, while negative syllogisms, modus tollens, negate something through the first 2 clauses.
Modus Ponens
William is Awesome
I am William
I am Awesome

Modus Tollens
People who are not good with computers are stupid
Noah is not stupid
He is good with computers

Affirmative Action
I can't believe I missed a class discussion where we got to debate!  that sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   T_T
Okay, so apparently Obama means affirmative action is no longer needed.  I somewhat agree agree with this.  I don't believe that Obama necessairly means Affirmative action is outdated.  There are many reasons why this happens to be.  Many people say that because there are so many honkies in college, more minorities need to be accepted.  Well, the majority of the country is white, isn't it?  Should not that translate to more whites in college then minorities?  I am not well versed on the issue so I could be wrong though.
